Sydney's Dust Storms

It seemed all those end of the world prophecies would turn true on last wednesday 23 September 2009 in Sydney. As usual I got up at 5:30am and was peeping out through my kitchen window. It was not a usual sight, something pitch red covering the whole sky as if I am wearing red glasses. I opened my door and went outside to look up to the skies. Indeed it was very scary to have a glimpse.

I can see my neighbour routinely ironing clothes as if we can't do much and life goes on in this busy world. Indeed this was the case in Sydney where life was not much disrupted as I can see full attendance at my work. People just don't want to talk about it.

Every car on the street is full of dust. Most of the pets fell sick including my rabbit. Hmm, we can't do much. It reminded me my days in middle east where the car is washed almost everyday. Dust storms are not uncommon in Australia, however, in New South Wales, they are a rarity.
